Industrial Smart Helmets

The DAQRI Smart Helmet Brings Technology to the Construction Site

The DAQRI smart helmet is being developed by Los Angeles-based augmented reality developer DAQRI, in a bit to bring protective hard hats into the 21st century by incorporating them with a Google Glass-like system suited towards industrial applications. Since construction sites require people to don protective headgear, DAQRI hopes that its helmet can catch on.

The helmet is fitted with a pair of retractable displays that sit in front of users' eyes, just like the Google Glass and other augmented reality headsets. It is also equipped with four cameras that cover a 360 degree field. It also has a depth camera that helps determine where to display information.

The DAQRI Smart Helmet is expected to ship in October, although pricing details have not yet been revealed.
