The Daimler car2go program is extending to incorporate Calgary, Toronto and Miami into its roster this summer to allow residents the opportunity to rent out solar cars to run their errands in.
This initiative allows members to rent out the Smart Fortwo for a period of time, drive it to where they need to go, and then then drop it off at a designated parking space. Drivers are charged on a minutely basis and maintenance, parking and insurance are all included in the rate.
The solar powered car is a cheap and Eco-friendly alternative to driving around in gas-guzzlers as the vehicle's solar panels generate electricity without the use of an alternator. Furthermore, it's a effective way to get to one's destination without having to own a vehicle.
