Dan Hanna has been at his Daily Photo Aging Project for 17 years. Since 1991, he has taken two portrait photos of himself every day to record himself getting older. The time lapse photographs show his head turning around just as the Earth revolves around the Sun.
Hanna has a four-foot ring apparatus which is marked to represent the 365 days of the year. Two cameras are mounted on the ring opposite to each other to take two pictures of himself 180 degrees apart.
The ring system is sectioned into four pieces for easy packing, but also to represent the four seasons. When Hanna stands facing the marks denoting the spring or fall equinoxes, the pair of photos show him facing towards the camera as well as showing the back of the head. For the summer and winter solstices, the pair of photos show him in profile, like in the main picture.
