Studio GGSV's Curiosity Object Questions Beauty and Value

The Curiosity Object is a philosophical creation. It is a sculptural display case that questions the idea of beauty and value. Instead of containing the most precious of items, it holds mundane ones such as rocks and even wine stoppers.

Designed by Gaëlle Gabillet and Stéphane Villard of Studio GGSV, the Curiosity Object series is made up of mysterious, partially opaque glass bells that when switched on, reveal what lies within. Encouraging people to observe and reflect, the designers write, "These lights question what is to be looked at: the object or its content? Where are we supposed to be focusing our attention in this day and age?" It shows that individuals and societies give things value if they believe it valuable.
