Some people enjoy their personal space more than others, but Cristina Barbero believes it’s a right that everyone should have in society. Thus, she’s created this wondrous installation of miniature statues encased in jars and stacked them on top of one another to form a small microcosm.
Viewers will likely notice the various colors of each Cristina Barbero figurine. That’s a conscious design choice she made to help people quickly realize that each sculpture is distinct. She wanted to convey her message of giving everyone a safe space in which they can be sheltered from their fears and problems, and felt crafting similar figures for each jar would detract from her statement.
Whether you agree with her or not, there’s no denying that the young artist has made a fantastic visual display.
