The Created Equal Series Shows Everyone Strives for Fulfillment

The recent Occupy movement that is sweeping over the entire world has opened up conversation about class, opportunity and -- at the end of the day -- the inequality between human beings, but the Created Equal photo series strives to show that people are all equal. It contrasts different walks of life to compare differences, but to focus on the similarities.

Shot by photographer Mark Laita, who put together the Contrasts of Life series, the Created Equal series is comprised of people from different economic backgrounds, races, religions and professions. Through controversial pairings, Laita forces his audience to really look and analyze each individual in the photo.

According to Laita, Created Equal shows how "All people on Earth, even radical Islamic fundamentalists, strive to be fulfilled. [...]This collection of photographs looks at the many different paths Americans take while trying to achieve that goal."
