In form, at least, the Couverts Old Fashion collection will look familiar. Perhaps you recognize the elegant, decorative handles from a vintage set of silverware. French designer Noelie Dubos has taken these beautiful and sculptural shapes and recreated them in a very contemporary material.
Instead of using hard-wearing metal to make these spoons, forks and knives, the designer made use of acrylic. It results in lightweight pieces that are quick, easy and cheap to produce and have a softness about them against the skin and lips. Another thing made possible by this material is the ability to give it color. The Couverts Old Fashion collection features a spectrum of blues, purples, maroons, pinks, oranges and reds. There is also a set in metallics of silver, gold, bronze and pewter.
