Architect Ron Shenkin created this enormous concrete canopy, which resembles the silhouette of a vast mountainous landscape. It is located in a beautiful graveyard in Israel to provide shelter for mourners.
The concrete canopy is supported by thin white pillars that branch out like a tree to support the heavy roof. Below each pillar there are imprints of fallen leaves, which suit the environment. In order to obtain the unique folded shape of this canopy, the architect used over 300 pieces of concrete panels.
This beautiful structure within the graveyard provides an open space for services, eulogies and final rituals to take place. The large space below the canopy is scattered with seating and features an open front and back. Due to the vast openings there, is plenty of sunlight that engulfs the interior each day.
