U.K.-based Industrial designer Blake Parkinson has created this sustainable herb garden that cleverly utilizes leftover coffee waste generated from urban cafes.
The 'Urb' garden is specially made to take advantage of the waste generated from coffee shops that would otherwise just be thrown away. The contemporarily designed planter is actually constructed from shredded coffee cups and lids that have been transformed into plastic pellets. These pellets are then molded to form the planter lids and casings. Additional coffee waste like grounds and filters can also be combined with food waste to create nutritional soil to help herbs and plants grow in your home.
The 'Urb' planter is able to reconnect urban dwellers to the natural world in a sustainable way through its eco-friendly design. It also makes for a lovely piece of home decor with its attractive multi-colored base, topped with leafy green plant.
