The jewelry is made with a material that's called 'Çurface,' which is formed from recycled coffee grounds that are collected locally in London. As McMillan describes, "To make Çurface, coffee is mixed with oils before undergoing a specialised production process using heat and pressure."
The Java Ore Collection includes pieces such as rings, bangle bracelets, earrings and necklaces, all of which boast boldly faceted shapes and the same deep, dark and rich color of coffee. On some of the jewelry pieces, 18ct recycled or fair trade gold and recycled diamonds are also incorporated to give the designs an added interest and a touch of luxury.
