Climate-Controlled Offices

This Office Will Customize Temperatures to Very Specific Needs

Italian architect Carlo Ratti has designed an office that is climate-controlled to conserve energy.

The Office 3.0 will be located in Turin, Italy and using sensors it will have the capacity to "instruct heating, lighting and cooling systems to follow occupants around the building." This means that when individuals or groups are in certain areas the heating or cooling will be on, while in deserted areas the system will turn heating or cooling off. The building management system will be able to turn off lights and heat up rooms right before they will be occupied.

There are two important benefits to this climate-controlled office -- the first being that it saves money on energy costs for the company itself. Looking at the bigger picture, this type of energy system would prevent energy consumption and could be adopted worldwide for more environmentally friendly office spaces.
