French artist Atelier Monté has created an eco-friendly way to re-use cigarette butts with his new birdhouses. Over the past few years, Monté released something known as the "filter factory." This machine allows smokers to deposit their cigarette butts safely and cleanly, which are then shredded. Every hundredth filter factory user receives a free birdhouse from the machine. These birdhouses are made entirely from the shredded cigarette butts, while remaining fully functional as bird-friendly abodes.
By creating these eco-friendly birdhouses, Monté has demonstrated that, although cigarettes aren't exactly environmentally friendly, they can be transformed into products that not only prevent the release of toxins into the environment, but provide a safe space for animals.
