Chris Yoo's 'Monster Alphabet' Turns Letters into Evil Creatures

Artist and illustrator Chris Yoo has a knack for creating unusual fonts and typefaces that turn everyday letters from the English alphabet into unusual creatures. Yoo's 'Monster Alphabet' displays this talent quite well as he turns every single letter of the alphabet into tiny yellow beasts.

The 'Monster Alphabet' was developed by Yoo in his senior thesis project when he attended the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore. The monstrous typeface features 26 different letters each individually drawn and designed by Yoo himself. Each letter is a uniquely drawn creature with an energetic, grotesque and beastly personality. All the letters begin with a yellow coloring that is filled in with red and black accented eyes, warts and obscure body parts. The 'Monster Alphabet' was designed to be used in a children's book.
