Deceptive Chinese Restaurant Designs

Crème Takes an Unconventional Approach for This Project

Chinese restaurant designs tend to share a certain uniformity that is found in shared cultural heritage. However, Brooklyn-based creative studio Crème had different plans for RedFarm -- a dim-sum dining establishment with locations in New York and London.

The design firm oversaw the development of the two American and the first UK locations. The interior is strongly inspired by the farmer's market -- from the playfully checkered couch cushions and the welcoming vegetative hits to the wooden accents and white brick walls.

The project definitely pushes the boundaries of Chinese restaurant designs into the unrecognizable. The fusion of cultures is apparent and Crème's venture into the unconventional can serve as evidence for the rapid globalization of cultures where culinary expression and design-minded arrangements from different backgrounds can form a cohesive whole.
