Nike Unveils New Sneakers Honoring San Francisco's Chinatown

Nike has revealed new sneakers that honor San Francisco's Chinese community, which is one of the largest Chinese communities in the United States. The sneakers are based on the Nike Dunk High model, dubbed the 'Gold Mountain' edition. In addition, the sneakers will be launched during AAPI Heritage Month.

The Nike Dunk High' Gold Mountain' sneakers arrive in white leather uppers with light gray overlays in suede material. There is a Gold Mountain graphic on the heel, and the insole of the sneakers illustrates the Mandarin words "Gau Gum Saan," translating to "Old Gold Mountain." The meaning of the word refers to the events during the 1860s where Chinese immigrants migrate to Gold Mountain, referencing San Francisco and other notable locations to search for new homes for themselves. The sneakers will be available on May 9.
