This Chilled Meat Packaging Reduces Plastic by 90%

This chilled meat packaging has been created by US-based Graphic Packaging in partnership with ABP Food Group as a range of solutions for Aldi to use at its locations in the UK. The packaging consists of pressed board trays that are paired with vacuum-sealed plastic overtop to showcase the cut and also reinforce freshness. The packaging is reported to use 90% less plastic when compared to previous packaging styles on the market, which will contribute towards Aldi's goal to remove two-billion pieces of plastic from its supply chain by 2025.

Business Development Director for Food and Convenience, Tray and Cup Solutions at Graphic Packaging Paul Tye commented on the chilled meat packaging saying, "Everything we do is geared toward making our customers’ transition from plastic into fibre-based packaging as seamless as possible, and we are so delighted that we were able to achieve that for ABP and Aldi."
