Children’s Peace Theatre Brings Art to the City in an Inventive Way

Children’s Peace Theatre is a non-profit community arts organization located in the heart of East York, Toronto in a beautiful old heritage home called the Massey Goulding Estate. Although it has the word "children" in the title, this organization also serves youth in the community, as well as adults – so you can pretty much be any age and you will be welcomed in with open arms.

The theater runs a multitude of programs and events throughout the year, but its pride and joy is the Summer Peace Camp – a theater camp featuring artists, performers and campers of all ages from Toronto and around the world who put together a show in just three weeks. The camp culminates with a Gala event on Saturday, July 27th. The show this year is called 'Passage: A Moving Experience,' and will explore stories about global migration. The night will include a reception after the outdoor performance (if weather permits), usually featuring live music and some really great food, along with speeches by a few local politicians.

The Children's Peace Theatre also runs programs and events through the fall, winter and spring seasons for local children and youth, and is currently working on a mural project with a few other organizations, including the TTC, to help beautify Coxwell subway station while it is being reconstructed.
