Airport Security Friendly Laptop Bags

The Checkpoint Flyer

Just as irritating and time consuming as having to remove your shoes when going through airport security is being told, "Remove your laptop." Thankfully, the TSA (Transportation Security Administration) has given a thumbs-up for passengers to use newly designed "check-point friendly" laptop bags without removing their laptops, as soon as they became available on the market.  Designer and CEO of his self-named company, TOM BIHN, has created one that meets TSA guidelines with the Checkpoint Flyer.

The Checkpoint Flyer is a convenient tri-fold bag that easily opens up to lie flat, which enables it to glide through airport x-ray machines and makes all contents visible to security personnel.  No more worrying about what the X-ray is doing to your laptop! Well, the TSA does leave the door open to check whatever they feel like—checkpoint friendly bag or not.

It is made of U.S. 1050 denier ballistic nylon and 500 denier Cordura, and lined with Dyneema/nylon ripstop.  The laptop portion of the bag is lined with foam to protect the laptop.  The Checkpoint Flyer’s other compartments are great for toting around books, papers, pens, and a ton of other items needed for business.

The only downside I see is that you have to purchase the straps separately and they run $20-$30.  Perhaps when Bihn’s $220 bag starts selling, he’ll throw in the straps for free.
