The Chanel AW10 Fashion Show Prepares for Another Ice Age

Karl Lagerfeld is known not only for his impeccable style and fashion designs, but also for his eccentricities, and nothing proves that more than the Chanel AW10 fashion show. Although for decades otherworldly creations have strutted down catwalks around the world, this time the Chanel catwalk itself was the talk of town.

Inspired by the Ice Hotel in Sweden, Lagerfeld had a 265-ton glacier imported into Paris for the Chanel AW10 fashion show. Thirty-five ice sculptors and six days later, The Grand Palais saw its first iceberg ever. Not surprisingly, however, the fashions held their own against the awesome glacial spectacle.
