It seems like it is not enough to embroider classic cloths or guerrilla knit local landmarks anymore; now, crafty artists are looking to items like food to show their embroidery skills. Take the Cereal Sampler series as an example. Artfully arranged into one big canvas, individual Chex cereal pieces have been embroidered with letters to form words and phrases.
Created by Somerville-based artist Judith G. Klausner, who clearly has a love for overlooked objects, the Cereal Sampler series comes immediately after her Toast Embroidery series in which she stitched mold, eggs and other traditional toast items onto real bread. In this case, however, she spells out the phrases "Breakfast: The Most Important Meal" and "War With Passion" in her works.
Taking both the Cereal Sampler and Toast project into consideration, viewers of these works would see that Klausner likes playing with her food.
