This unusual and impressive cast design comes from Jake Evill. Evill used a 3-D printer to create this prototype, which seems to be a huge improvement upon regular cast designs. The most obvious benefit of using this neat 3-D printed cast is that its honeycomb design allows wearers full access to their skin, so itchy cast-covered areas will no longer be a problem for accident-prone people.
Evill calls this cast the Cortex Exoskeleton. This incredible cast is apparently lighter and stronger than an average cast, which makes it more comfortable for the wearer, while potentially providing the broken limb with better support for healing.
This cast design is shower-safe, so wearers can shower and keep themselves feeling fresh while they wait for their arms to heal. This is an extremely clever 3-D printed design which could improve the way that physicians deal with broken limbs.
