Renovated Barn Abodes

mwworks Renovated the Canyon Barn Into a Fully Functioning Home

American architecture studio mwworks completed a full renovation on the Canyon Barn, a barn in Eastern Washington, changing it from a depleted wooden structure into a fully functioning home.

The design team restored the original building with the intention of creating a comfortable home, while still retaining as much of its classic character as possible. The exterior remains covered in the original wood, but the studio added large windows and a new roof, effectively restoring the structure it instead of replacing it entirely. The interior offers a modern twist with three bedrooms and a large living area, all furnished with contemporary pieces.

By adding random pops of color, the team kept the integrity of the wooden interior, but managed to make it loft-like. mworks had a difficult task of renovating the Canyon Barn, but achieved a unique and comfortable home.
