Despite his tragic death in 1973, photographer Michael Cooper was able to capture a series of candid rockstar photographs of the young Rolling Stones. Cooper struck a friendship with an eccentric art dealer named Robert Fraser, which gained him access to the up-and-coming rock band. Cooper soon became a gallery in-house photographer and struck up a close relationship with The Rolling Stones and many other acts.
Cooper was able to document the rise of the Rolling Stones in the sixties, and captured many of the band's more candid rockstar moments. Some of these include Mick Jagger composing a song on a piano and Keith Richards and his friends sprawled out in a convertible. Some of Cooper's iconic pictures will be featured in an exhibit titled 'Courting the Stones' in British art gallery Proud Chelsea.
