The 'Camera, Camera' Documentary Questions the Tourist Mentality

The 'Camera, Camera' documentary is the story of traveling in Laos, all behind the haze and bustle of the traveler's video and camera lens. Today, many of us don't travel to foreign locales without our digital camera. Seth Mydans of the New York Times says that travelers "compose their experience through camera lenses as they go," taking these pixelated "memories" home instead of tangible experiences.

The film is the directorial debut of Malcolm Murray and was produced by New York Times photographer Josh Haner. Click through the gallery to view stills from the 'Camera, Camera' documentary.
