Chinese contemporary artist Cai Guo-Qiang draws inspiration from animals for most of his quirky works. Based in New York but quite the traveler, Cai likes to expand his horizons in discovery for his next animalistic muse.
Inspired by his last trip to Stradbroke Island, Australia, Cai Guo-Qiang came back to New York with a vision and began to work on his most recent large scale masterpiece he has lawfully titled 'Heritage.' This series of far-out art features a flock of 99 life-sized replicates of wild animals from giraffes to kangaroos drinking from a pool of clear blue water. This piece is much like his popular 'Head On' series, which features a pack of 99 wolves launching themselves into the air only to crash into a large glass wall.
Both of this intriguing pieces will be apart of the artist's first solo exhibition in Australia titled Falling Back to Earth.
