At the end of May, the deputy director of Business Action for Africa, Richard Gilbert, wrote a blog post for Business Fights Poverty in part of a sort of "where are we know?" series with regards to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) called Post-2015 Zone. In the piece called "Defining a New Development Framework that Strengthens the Contribution of Business," he champions poor-focused business that exceeds the vocabulary of philanthropy and CSR.
Business Action for Africa is a network of individuals, corporations, small businesses and other partnerships "working together for Africa's future." It's part of a larger narrative that situates the continent as history-less but also as one that embeds the arrival of a future through technology and business -- or rather, "progress."
