The Bush Shoe attack is one of the most controversial news stories of the day, and it’s only getting hotter. A journalist in Iraq threw his shoes at president George W. Bush, shouting, "It is the farewell kiss, you dog," to the delight of many Arabs who considered it "an ideal parting gift," according to AFP.
Muntazer al-Zaidi, a journalist at the Al-Baghdadia TV station, said he "detested America" so felt fulfilled after following through with the Bush Shoe attack.
"Throwing the shoes at Bush was the best goodbye kiss ever… it expresses how Iraqis and other Arabs hate Bush," wrote an editor of the Al-Gahd Arabic newspaper in Jordan.
This story makes it evident that every culture has different ways of dealing with their feelings. The Bush Shoe incident didn’t result in injury, but it will most certainly be remembered in history as a pretty wild political insult.
