Photographer Sean Sullivan was inspired by ‘Bukowski’s Women’ when he shot this editorial of the same name for VICE Mag.
For those unfamiliar, Charles Bukowski was a German-born, LA-based author whose semi-autobiographical work focused on class inequity, substance abuse and his relationships with women. In fact, Bukowski wrote a novel simply titled ‘Women,’ in which his literary alter-ego Henry Chinaski describes his struggles and frustrations with the women he encounters.
As for the shoot, Sullivan channels some of Bukowski’s most famous literary muses and mistresses. Creative director and stylist Annette Lamothe-Ramos styled models Bianca Alatorre, Chelsea Schuchman, Ingrid Sophie Schram and Lauren Young to resemble these illustrious, immortalized women. She was assisted by fashion coordinator Miyako Bellizzi and photo assistant Jordan Watts.
