Magnetic Espresso Sets

Andre Gouveia's 'Brothers in Arms' Stick Together

Broken porcelain cups will happen, but the 'Brothers in Arms' espresso set may lessen the number of fallen drinking devices.

The design features magnetic properties that keep the entire set securely attached. Oftentimes, people break their teacups or coffee cups because of being precariously set on a saucer or table. That will never be the case with this design.

Created by Portuguese designer André Gouveia based in Lisbon, the Brothers in Arms espresso set is comprised of a saucer, cup and teaspoon. Falsely portrayed as a single unit, the Brothers in Arms espresso set nevertheless comes apart as easily as it sticks together. Yet, as the designer puts it, "The cup is not overturned so easily, the spoon does not fall, nor does the sugar."
