Community-Decorated Stations

The Brooklyn Subway Stations Are Calling Local Artists For A Redesign

The New York City Metropolitan Transportation Authority is aiming to bring more diversity and artistry to its Brooklyn Subway Stations by opening up a call to have local artists participate in the makeover of the spaces. Creatives can submit their work to the panel in the hopes of seeing it featured in the station's overall design for years to come. The project brings awareness to the community and its creatives by honoring their work in public spaces.

The competition asks artists to submit designs that can be recreated using tiles or glass in mosaic patterns along the underground walls of the space. The artwork has to be able to be made using durable materials that can withstand the high traffic and use of the public stations.
