Based on pictures of old dilapidated and neglected buildings, the Broken Houses series is a set of intricate scale models created by New York City-based artist Ofra Lapid.
Lapid came up with the idea for the series after finding a horde of online pictures taken by a photographer from rural North Dakota who seemingly had a fascination with abandoned structures. The photographs were used as reference material to create tiny scale models of the decaying houses that incorporate an astounding amount of detail. After construction, the models themselves were photographed against a gray background.
