Psychedelic Popstar Picture Books

The David Bowie 'Space Oddity' Book is Rocking

One of the most influential rock songs of the last 50 years is transformed into an epic children's fairytale by illustrator Andrew Kolb, in the David Bowie 'Space Oddity' book. The Kitchener, Ontario-based artist was inspired by the lyrics and eerie experimental sounds of the 1969 psychedelic Bowie single to create this fantastically fun and clever picture book. Kolb explains on his website, "Have you ever listened to a song and your mind's eye is immediately filled with visuals? David Bowie's classic space epic is one such song for me."

Kolb's illustrations put a quirky twist on the classic tune and the lyrics seem to work perfectly in the context of a storybook. The David Bowie 'Space Oddity' book isn't yet available in physical form, but can be downloaded for free on Kolb's website. This is definitely one children's book I wouldn't mind reading over and over again, and I only wish it had been around when I was a tot!
