At only 17-years-old, Mikhaila Nodel has created a popular series of body positive cartoons on her Tumblr page called Cosmic Cuties. Nodel's empowering cosmic characters are set in space and feature powerful messages about body positivity, feminism, gender and other timely cultural issues.
Nodel originally began the project after noticing the insecurities of many young women around her, including her own friends. She wanted to help these young women feel better about themselves and to celebrate their own beauty, so she began to leave inspiring zines in the girl's bathroom at her school.
