Culture-Focused Coffee Shops

Blue Bottle Coffee Opens Doors to Its Second Shanghai Location

Blue Bottle Coffee has opened in Shanghai, marking the company’s second Chinese location following the opening of its Schemata Architects location. The new Blue Bottle Coffee store is located in downtown Shanghai inside the Jing An Kerry Centre and features architectural design by Japanese studio Kejij Ashizawa Design.

The new coffee location will function as a space for celebrating local culture, focusing on the art of crafting traditional Chinese roof tiles. The space uses 13,000 handmade brick tiles for the bar counter, stairwell wall, and lounge. Additional bricks were sourced from the city of Yixing, which neighbors Shanghai and is known for its clay manufacturing. Consumers can also enjoy beautiful design elements like circular recessed seating, leather, structural concrete, and oak furniture.
