Inflatable Art Showcases

The Traveling BLOW UP Show is a Selection of Inflatable Contemporary Art

The BLOW UP Show is a traveling art show highlighting works of contemporary art that take the inflatable sculptural form. The exhibition will kick off in Walnut Creek, California at the Bedford Gallery, which will then showcase it around the US.

The intriguing exhibit features a variety of inflatable pieces from artists like Andy Warhol, Claire Ashley, Lee Boroson, Christo and Jean-Claude and Momoyo Torimitsu.

The exhibition is a playful one curated by Carrie Lederer of Bedford Gallery, but not all of the works included in the show are as cartoony as one would expect. Andy Warhol's 1996 'silver clouds,' for example, are created from simplistic silver plastic film and helium, a subdued piece when compared to Momoyo Torimitsu's 2000 'Somehow I Don't Feel Comfortable,' also included.
