Surrealist Faceless Photography

Chloe Newman Creates Bizarre Photography

‘Weird’ is a good word to describe London-based photographer Chloe Newman’s bizarre photography. Newman dips her toe into the truly bizarre with the series of images entitled ‘Visual Conflicts,’ ‘Something Wrong’ and ‘Blank Tropicana.’

The images look innocuous at first glance, but there is something truly unsettling about each one, even if you can’t put your finger on why that is. For instance, the image of the sunny-side eggs on top of the balloon. Other images include a hand dripping some syrupy liquid onto a bouquet of flowers, a hand (complete with dramatic nails) reaching ominously from in between a set of blinds or from beneath a pool, or facially obstructing scarves that match the wallpaper and leave their wearer faceless.

Newman’s photos are visually stunning, with contrast between the bright colors and the objects within the photos. The result is a collection of stylized, oddball photos.
