Mixed in with seeds, the pigeons will be lured to rooftop feeders where scientists hope they will ingest the mixed-in hormones.

The avian oral contraceptive is called OvoControl P and is combined with pebbles resembling cat food. Hollywood is the first city to try the pigeon population control method, and if successful, could the setter of a new international trend.

“We think we've got a good solution to a bad situation,” said Laura Dodson, president of the Argyle Civic Association. “The poop problem has become unmanageable, and this could be the answer.”
