Built by the Danish architect Jan Henrik Jansen on the island of Mons, the holiday home consists of nine cylindrical volumes that interconnect to form a complex unit.
As a holiday home, Birkedal is resplendent with modern amenities, but its design hints at a more rustic feel. Covered in thousands of spruce saplings, the cylindrical volumes look like a small village of makeshift huts nestled deep in a jungle. To further accentuate this reference to warm climes, the hut is also surrounded with beach pebbles that lead down to the shore of the ocean, just 300 meters away from the main building.
