Balancing Bird Lamps

Umut Yamac Designs a Sculptural Light Inspired by Origami

Perch is the name of a bird lamp inspired by the origami art form. Full of sharp lines and an overall abstract silhouette, the bird lamp is a playful design that interacts with its user in a charming way. Although it comes with a stand, it is able to perch on someone's finger as if it were a real bird.

Designed by architectu Umut Yamac, the bird lamp not only emits a soft, welcoming glow, it also swings gently back and forth with the slightest touch. Made by hand in London, the bird lamp was presented at the designjunction during London Design Week. Each one takes four to five days to produce, which is not surprising considering the details involved in the design.
