This Gun Uses Sensors to Prevent Unauthorized Users From Firing It

A Colorado company called Biofire Technologies has developed a smart gun that is designed to use biometric sensors and electronic identification technologies in order to prevent its firing by unauthorized individuals.

This smart gun carries out authentication uses a couple of mechanisms, one of which is a fingerprint sensor situated on the grip that targets the middle finger. On top of that, the 'Biofire Smart Gun' also makes use of facial recognition that adds a layer of redundancy in case of any issue with the fingerprint detection system.

The 'Biofire Smart Gun' is currently available for a price of $1,499, being sold under the statutes that govern any other firearm. Kai Kloepfer, CEO and founder the company, says that what makes this product's approach unique is the manner in which it uses futuristic engineering to try and make a dent in the cause of preventing firearm deaths, particularly among children.

The Biofire Smart Gun shoots like any high-quality firearm, but it also feels like you're holding the future in your hand," said Kloepfer. "This is a new era in firearm safety driven by ambition and optimism, motivated by the idea that we can in fact help save people's lives."
