Madrid studio Ecosistema Urbano's proposal to create bio-climatic domes to revamp Florida's waterfront has won first place in New York's Shore to Core competition. The competition encouraged architects and artists to create a design for Florida's West Palm Beach that would strengthen the connection between the city's urban core and its waterfront. While a popular tourist distention in the summer, West Palm Beach draws smaller crowds during the winter, and the city sought a new design to keep the destination buzzing year-round.
The proposed designs feature multi-purpose domes that would serve a variety of functions from an aquarium, to meditation spaces. The ultimate goal is to create a connection between the city's iconic waterfront and its downtown core, creating a unity between the natural, and material world.
