Thallis Vestergaard's Video Shows Us 200 Years of the Bicycle's Evolution

Danish animator Thallis Vestergaard put together a short animated movie outlining the bicycle's evolution. 'Visual Artwork,' a studio based in Denmark, produced the video.

The movie traces the bicycle from its inception in the eighteenth century all the way to the present. The video is called Evolution of the Bicycle and it gives you a brief look at the variations of bicycles over the last 200 or so years.

'Evolution of the Bicycle' highlights how innovations from different inventors all contributed to the change and improvement of the bicycle. The first example is the Velocifere by Frenchman Comte Mede de Sivrac with a design that was basically two wheels, a piece of wood and a horse saddle. It wasn't until 1885 that the present concept of a bicycle was introduced by J.K. Starley and then further refined by C.D. Rice.
