AirDonkey Allows People to Rent Out Bikes When They're Not Using Them

AirDonkey is an innovative new startup, based in Denmark, that is offering a service wherein occasional cyclists can hire bicycles when they need to use them -- from bicycle owners who only cycle occasionally and put up their bicycles for rent.

People who want to rent out their bikes have to order an AirDonkey kit online. The kit includes an instruction panel and a Bluetooth-enabled 'Donkey lock' which tracks the bike's whereabouts. Once the owner has 'donkified' their bike, they can take a photo of it and list it on the AirDonkey mobile app. They can then indicate when the bike is available to rent, or indicate that it's unavailable when they want to use it themselves.

The sharing economy has already changed the way many people travel, find lodging and use taxi services, and AirDonkey is looking to bring the revolution to bicycle sharing.
