The Wolf bicycle lights are designed to communicate with each other to reduce needlessly high-intensity light. It's nice to have bright lights to be seen by motorists but if you're cycling and end up behind another cyclist who also has high-intensity lights, it can get pretty blinding. This is why Australian firm Augur created the Wolf lights, which communicate with each other and automatically dim to avoid blinding riders.
The tail light uses wireless communication to detect the presence of a Wolf headlight behind within a range of 3 meters. Software then lowers the tail light's output to an appropriate level taking into account proximity and closing speed of the headlight. This prevents the following cyclist from being dazzled while also saving power.
