Haute Fashion in Beijing

China Fashion Week is in full swing in Beijing, and there have definitely been some inspirational designs presented. The first pictures here, however, are not really fashion, but are part of the rather clumsily titled, "Beauty Pageant Colorful Cosmetic Design Contest." Perhaps something was lost in translational. No matter, these are spectacular works of art.

The blue dress from Mark Cheung, a Chinese fashion icon, expresses his love of ancient building styles which is reflected in his use of symmetry and intricate pleating. The result is the combination of traditional culture with cutting edge fashion.

Zhang Zhaoda’s overly long sleeves might get in your soup, but who says fashion is practical?

The white dress from Oneness shows the yen for ruffles is still going strong.

The lingerie of Aimer Lingerie is nothing short of spectacular, and Li Xiaoyan's fabulous white ruffled number with the criss-cross halter is stunning.
