Death-Focused Art Books

The Before I Die Book Collects Entries From Around the World

Candy Chang's public space project will now become more accessible in the 'Before I Die' book. The New Orleans-based artist created a project in her hometown to take ownership of communal areas by creating large murals with chalk board paint with the heading 'Before I Die.' Underneath people could fill in the blank and complete the sentence 'Before I die, I want to...' with their dreams and hopes.

Originally this took place in Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina, but has since spread to cities around the world. Now the answers are becoming available to people outside of the cities where the murals have been posted in a book version. The Before I Die book collects shots of the murals around the world in places like New York, Paraguay and South Korea.
