MeliBio is Upscaling Bee-Free Honey Production with Pow.Bio

For years, consumers in search of bee-free honey have been savoring MeliBio's innovative alternative sweetener made from precision fermentation and the Californian company is now scaling up production with the aid of Pow.Bio.

This month, MeliBio will be working with Pow.Bio, the Berkeley-based biomanufacturing startup, to explore artificial intelligence for maximizing efficiency. "This initiative will help us elevate the functionality of our products to come, and provide more of the benefits of bee-derived honey to current products, while also matching authenticity beyond taste and texture," MeliBio co-founder and chief technology officer Aaron Schaller told Green Queen.

MeliBio's products challenge the way bee-derived honey is conventionally produced and at the same time, they address the need to support dwindling bumblebee species and the environment in response to climate change.
