Cardboard Box Beds

Nikolay Suslov Designs for Nomads and the Homeless

Hopefully you will never need one of these, but if you should find yourself homeless, or you are a traveling nomad, Russian designer Nikolay Suslov has a solution for you.

Taking his inspirations from chaise loungers and different kind of beach chairs, the sturdy (and may we say, stylish) cardboard bed is finished with five layers of corrugated cardboard, processed with a waterproof substance to make it durable in any weather, and of course, is recyclable.

The structure of the bed is such that it elevates the surface about 20 centimeters above the ground, helping to put some necessary and welcome space between cold or wet ground. It certainly puts a new spin on the use of the "cardboard box" for the homeless.
