Beach Towel Works Of Art

Yvonne Force is a founder of New York's non-profit organization Art Production Fund, and is well-known for installing art in unexpected places. This New York-based fund has received deserved attention for a line of artists' products to exhibit, collect and even to walk on. The latest project, which brings art into the everyday lives of people, is a series of four beach towels for the art-minded to show off while soaking up the sun.

The industrially produced renditions of artists' work appropriately named “WOW,” or “Works On Whatever,” have until recently only been available on carpets, wallpapers, rugs, and tapestries.

The new project will see the artists' drawings and paintings transformed into amazing cotton and polyester 60 x 70cm beach towels, creating amazing colorful artworks mirroring the qualities of the original paintings. The whole range is both visually stunning and affordable; making ownership of famous artists such as Alex Katz, Richard Phillips, Rob Pruitt, and Marilyn Minter available in fabric versions at $50 a time.

All profits from the towel sales go to supporting the Art Production Fund and its ongoing public arts mission. So now you have an ethical reason to go to the beach too!

If you're just curious then check out the new beach-art towels at the Art Basel fair in the André Balazs hotel spa, Miami Beach; the exhibition at the fair, will run from December 7th through 12th.

I just hope that the “new technology” that's used to create these colorful and vibrant towels doesn't run in the wash.
