The Bazta Arpaio Ad Invoked an Ad from the 60s to Make a Political Point

The Bazta Arpaio Campaign was created to prevent people from voting for now-president Donald Trump and Joe Arpaio from winning due to their anti-immigration stances.

The commercial was inspired by the famous 'Daisy Girl' attack ad, which was created to support Lyndon B. Johnson's presidential campaign against Barry Goldwater, who had a frighteningly cavalier attitude towards the use of nuclear weapons in Vietnam and the devastating effects they would have on the country. The Bazta Arpaio Campaign ad is similar to the 1964 Daisy Girl ad, and features a young, presumably Hispanic girl who is counting the petals on a flower until a woman calls out to her, and two ICE officers are seen approaching her. The campaign ends with the statement: "The Stakes are too high to let Trump and Arpaio win."

While we all now know the results of the Presidential election, activism against Donald's anti-immigration stance has only become more pronounced across the country.
